1.a Flocknote: Data Management Made Simple

Learn how to keep your parish records clean and up to date with Flocknote’s Household Database. We’ll also cover entering batch gifts, managing funds, and practical tips to make your data work for you.
1.b Policy Enforcers (HR & Payroll)

Learn what the role of HR and Payroll is and what the day to day operations looks like. This will also be a question and answer time. Please send questions ahead of time to dturziano@dwc.org by October 10th, 2025.
1.c Secrets to a Successful Safe Environment Audit
Presenters: Dee Dean and Sharon Goudy
Learn how to analyze your parish or school’s demographics, social media, database systems, and online presence to set yourself up for a successful Safe Environment audit. We will teach you how an auditor looks at your location and determines whether you pass, are deficient, or fail. We will go over data collection and all that it entails; cleaning up your platforms; helpful reports and how to generate them; and finally, ensuring compliancy. In addition to this class, we will keep “office hours” in the lobby on Wednesday during PACE. If you can’t attend the workshop session, be sure to stop by and see us at the table in the lobby to get your questions answered.
1.d Women of the Way: Walking Together in Faith and Purpose

As part of the PACE Conference, Women of the Way invites women from across the Diocese of Wheeling-Charleston to come together in fellowship, prayer, and shared mission. Established as a grass-roots initiative, this movement seeks to accompany women by fostering meaningful connections, offering tools and resources for growth, and providing encouragement for the journey of faith. Women of the Way creates space for women to strengthen one another, embrace their unique gifts, and walk together as disciples of Christ in today’s world. Come join us we gather your input on how to launch this initiative.
1.e Joseph’s Story
Presenter: Shirley Carter
During this 175th anniversary of our diocese, let’s not forget our patron, St. Joseph. In this session, Joseph gives his own account of being the husband to Mary and the earthly father of Jesus. Presented in story telling format, all are invited to journey with Joseph as he gives voice to his experiences of following God’s will. Participants will be encouraged to reflect upon their own experiences as well with the knowledge that, in the life of St. Joseph, when all was said and done……more was done than said.

2.c Session with Meredith

In ministry, much of our work unfolds not on mountaintops, but in the valleys—those places where we wrestle with uncertainty, division, or disconnection. This interactive workshop will create space to name those challenges honestly, listen deeply to one another, and discover Spirit-led practices that rebuild trust and community. Through reflection, faith-sharing, and a creative activity, participants will explore what they long for in their parish life and identify simple, practical ways to become bridge-builders in their own contexts.
2.d Creating Your Bulletin in Canva: Beginners
Presenter: Amber Chambers
This beginner-friendly training session will guide participants through the basics of creating a bulletin using Canva. Attendees will become familiar with the Canva interface and explore its main features, including browsing and selecting templates, customizing designs, and uploading new images. The session will also cover how to add and edit text boxes, adjust colors, and make other modifications to fit your needs. Finally, participants will learn how to export their finished design for printing or share it digitally with others.

2.e Telling the Story of Stewardship
Presenter: Johnny Day (Grace Philanthropy)
This session explores how to effectively communicate the parish’s story of stewardship, showing how generosity supports the mission and transforms lives. Participants will learn practical strategies using parish communications, financial reports, and daily interactions to inspire engagement, convey the impact of giving and share the faith through evangelization.
2.f Catholic Charities and Catholic Social Teaching

Catholic Social Teaching provides the foundation for the mission of Catholic Charities, guiding its work through principles such as the “dignity of the human person, the call to family and community, the preferential option for the poor and the pursuit of the common good. These teachings remind us that every person is created in God’s image and deserves respect. Catholic Charities puts these values into action by serving those in need, advocating for justice, and promoting human dignity through programs that strengthen families, support the poor, and build communities rooted in compassion and hope.

3.d This Land Is Home To Me
Presenters: Shirley Carter
This is the 50th Anniversary of this groundbreaking document, which was promulgated in our own diocese! It is considered one of the most significant statements to emerge from the U.S. Catholic Church and has become a model for groups all over the world that want to promote social justice. More than 200,000 copies of the pastoral letter are in circulation, and it’s been translated into several languages.
This session will take a close look at the document and give suggestions on ways participants can study and reflect upon it in their own parishes.
3.e Elevating Your Bulletin in Canva: Intermediate
Presenter: Amber Chambers
This interactive, hands-on training is designed for those who already have some experience using Canva and want to take their skills to the next level. Participants will explore Canva’s more advanced features, including creating and applying brand kits, customizing layouts, and working with a wider range of design tools. The session will allow for more Q& A time to help you get the most out of your Canva projects.

3.f Understanding DWC Finance Office Forms…and More!!

- How to read invoices and statements and reconcile them with payroll deductions.
- DLS Forms for Deposits, Transfers, and Withdrawals (In-House Loans and Certificates of Deposit): How to complete the forms, what approvals are necessary for different types of transactions, how much time is needed to process different types of requests.
- Accounts Receivable: The difference between invoices and statements, what information is most needed/useful in the remittance advice/check memo.
- Collections & Appeals: Schedule and due dates for remittances to the Chancery.

InDesign isn’t as scary as you think! This beginner-friendly session will introduce participants to the basics of Adobe InDesign and help build confidence using the program. Attendees will learn how to navigate the toolbar, create and adjust text boxes, and insert photos to enhance their layouts. The session will also cover simple design techniques to make your bulletin look polished and professional. Finally, participants will discover how easy it is to export their projects and prepare them for both printing and digital sharing.

5.e “The Tradition of Our Ancestors and the Grace and God”: A History of the Diocese of Wheeling-Charleston

Over the next year, the Diocese of Wheeling-Charleston is prayerfully celebrating our 175th anniversary. Join diocesan archivist Jon-Erik Gilot for a lightning-round primer on diocesan history. This talk will chart the growth of Catholicism in West Virginia, the pastorates of past bishops, and the legacy of the religious and laity who have helped to shape our diocese.
5.f Beyond Mass: Music for Children in Other Liturgical Service

This session will provide some music ideas and resources on incorporating music into other liturgical services involving children (First Penance, First Holy Communion, Vacation Bible School, Lessons and Carols, etc…)
