Mission Statement:
The Office of the Delegate for Consecrated Life works with the Bishop of the Diocese of Wheeling-Charleston to provide pastoral and canonical services to the religious women, brothers, and consecrated virgins within the diocese. At the present time, the office staff consists of a woman religious who is the Delegate for Consecrated Life, and a secretary who assists in carrying out the ministry of the office. This office maintains membership with the National Conference of Vicars for Religious.
Vision Statement:
The vision for the Office of the Delegate for Consecrated Life is being shaped by the realities and ambiguities that are the concerns of communities of religious women and brothers who minister within the diocese.
- In a stance of gratitude, we celebrate the diverse charisms that have graced our diocesan Church from its earliest beginnings and continue to do so today.
- In faith, we accompany persons and communities on the journey of transition and change, in whatever ways are appropriate to the situation.
- In hope, we collaborate, so that the transformation in Christ to which we are called might become more visible in our personal lives, our communities and ministry.
- In love, we act as a support and resource for religious women, brothers, and consecrated virgins who seek to live the prophetic call of the Gospel in our times.
- As a working unit within the Chancery, we strive to live these same values in our interactions with one another and with others who minister in this setting.
