I was wondering…

But now you’re not?

How many of your emails, phone messages or conversations start with “I was?”
I was hoping you would…
I was trying to reach you…
I was wondering if you would…

“Was” implies past tense. The action no longer applies.

Consider instead:
I am hoping you will…
I would like to speak with you about…
Are you available for…

It may seem like grammar police, but if you want to seem more professional, speak in the present tense.
