Celebrations around the Diocese for The Solemnity of St. Joseph Celebrations March 19, 2025
CHARLESTON: Saint Agnes Parish will be honoring St. Joseph with a solemn Mass at 6:00pm, followed by a procession from the Church to the gym where a BBQ potluck dinner will be held.
MARTINSBURG: St Joseph Catholic Church is having a bilingual Mass at 6:00 pm followed by a traditional Italian St. Joseph’s Table Dinner in Lackey Hall. The tradition of the St. Joseph Table dates back to medieval times in Sicily. The legend, told by Italian Americans, is that a drought in the 1600s created a great famine. Sicilians prayed to St. Joseph for rain and promised that if he answered their prayers, they would dedicate a feast day in his name every year to feed the hungry. It did rain, and the tradition was born. The Martinsburg event is open to all. Cost: free will donation.
Donations of non-perishable food will be collected to benefit CCAP Loaves and Fishes.
Reservations necessary for preparations: sign up after Masses. Email the parish office at secretary@stjosephwv.org, or call the office at 304-267-4893.
WHEELING – The Cathedral of St. Joseph will have 12:05pm Mass in honor of the Solemnity of St. Joseph at the Cathedral of St. Joseph with the Most Reverend Mark E. Brennan as presider. A luncheon open to all will follow the Mass. The solemnity will be flanked by events the day before and after. On March 18th, Solemn Vespers in honor of St. Joseph will be at 6pm; and on March 19th, 6 pm Mass in honor of St. Joseph at Cathedral of St. Joseph will also include a special enshrinement of the Icon of St. Joseph as donated by the West Virginia Knights of Columbus.

The painting of St. Joseph is featured at St. Joseph Church, Martinsburg, by WV native Christopher Santer.
