The National Eucharistic Revival
Clarion Call: Let all 70 Million Catholics be Eucharistic Missionaries

National Eucharistic Congress Chairman Bishop Andrew Cozzens called the Summer 2024 event an “Experience of Heaven”- one that should motivate and strengthen our call to bring Christ to others!

Bishop Cozzens, of the Diocese of Crookston, said on the heels of the congress our nation and the world witnessed a movement in the US – missionaries declaring, “The Eucharist is a foretaste of heaven.” The world watched as “Thousands upon thousands in the streets (walking and watching) became truly an image of the Church as our Holy Father says, ‘in salita’ – going out; and going where? Going to Heaven, following Jesus, walking together as the Church going to Heaven.”

The National Eucharistic Revival now transitions to the Year of Mission – Walk with One.

“Invite one, and unite as one,” Cozzens said. “This year we have invited you to walk with one person. What would happen if each of you thought of one person you know that has been away from the faith, and you decided to pray for them, befriend them, and invite them to take one step closer to Jesus and His Church…. What would happen if 70 million Catholics did that? My question to you is will you do it?

“Go, and tell others of the gift (CHRIST JESUS) you have received.”

Parish Point Persons for the Eucharistic Revival in our local parishes are now Parish Point Missionaries, Cozzens said, charged to rally all the faithful as true missionaries of Christ.

Throughout the next year diocesan and parish leaders will emphasize the lessons and energy of this moment – this movement in the Church with small groups in our parishes, vicariates, and diocese.

Prayer for Eucharistic Revival

Father in heaven,
you have made us for yourself;
our hearts are restless until they rest in you.
Fulfill this longing through Jesus, the Bread of Life,
whose sacramental Body
we receive in the Eucharist,
so that we may witness to him
who alone satisfies the hungers of the human family.
By the power of your Spirit
lead us to the heavenly table
where we may feast on the
vision of your glory for ever and ever. Amen.

The Real Presence – National Eucharistic Revival 2022-2025

“Believe what Christ said at the Last Supper, ‘This is my Body. This is my Blood!’” This has been Bishop Mark Brennan’s emboldening message to the faithful during his ministry.

Spanning from the 2022 Feast of Corpus Christi – the Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ to Pentecost 2025 the faithful in the United States will celebrate the National Eucharistic Revival.

The United States Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB) outlined the mission of our three-year event as a renewal of “the Church by enkindling a living relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ in the Holy Eucharist.” The revival has four significant components:

  • Year of Diocesan Revival from June 19, 2022, to June 11, 2023 – diocesan events centered around Christ’s true presence in the Eucharist.
  • Year of Parish Revival from June 11, 2023, to July 17, 2024 – parishes will coordinate events for deeper encounters with Christ through Adoration, Mass, and enrichment.
  • National Eucharistic Congress Event set for July 17-21, 2024 –Catholics of all ages will gather in Indianapolis for a five-day conference to build enthusiasm among the faithful to be “eucharistic missionaries.”
  • National Year of Mission – July 17, 2024, to Pentecost of 2025 – all Catholics are encouraged to evangelize and be a light of Christ in the world.

This revival was developed by our US bishops after the USCCB June 2021 vote to focus on Christ’s true presence in the Eucharist – the source and summit of Christian life (Catechism of the Catholic Church no. 1324).
