WEST VIRGINIA—Catholic Charities West Virginia’s (CCWVa) annual appeal 2014 is underway and has an overall goal of $315,000 statewide.  Proceeds will directly support the outreach services of CCWVa throughout West Virginia.  Regional staff will promote the appeal locally to reach their target amount.  The traditional second collection at Christmas Masses is anticipated to help the appeal reach its goal. Mark Sliter-Hays, executive director of CCWVa, said, “Annual contributions directly impact the amount of assistance and quality of service CCWVa provides to the forgotten elderly, the hungry child, the afflicted homeless and the families struggling to get by as the cost of food, health care, housing escalates.” “Give and believe poverty can be reduced; give and see a better tomorrow in West Virginia; give and be with CCWVa in charity, hope and love.  Together we can make a world of difference,” said Patricia Phillips, CCWVa director of development and marketing. Donations marked Annual Appeal can be made at your local CCWVa office, by mail at 2000 Main Street, Wheeling, WV 26003 or online at www.CCWVa.org. CCWVa’s mission is to alleviate poverty, distress and injustice by providing comprehensive social services to the poor and vulnerable, advocating for social justice and calling all people of good will, especially those of the church, to service. In support of its universal mission, CCWVa is open to all people regardless of their race, color, national origin, gender, religion, age, disability, political beliefs, sexual orientation, socio-economic background or marital or family status.
