CATHOLIC IN RECOVERY

CIR is a parish based 12-step program that addresses recovery from a Catholic and sacramental perspective. CIR administers to anyone who is impacted by a variety of addictions, compulsions, and unhealthy attachments. Those struggling with addiction and their loved ones are supported through the process of surrendering their life to God’s love and care

CATHOLICS FOR A SUSTAINABLE ECONOMY

The mission of Catholics for a Sustainable Economy (CSE) is to increase both awareness and implementation of Pope Francis’s 2015 Encyclical Letter Laudato Si’. CSE will encourage and support the implementation of the encyclical by the people of West Virginia, especially clergy, religious, and parishioners of the Diocese of Wheeling-Charleston.

WALKING WITH MOMS IN NEED

Walking with Moms in Need is a nationwide, parish-based initiative to increase support for pregnant and parenting mothers in need. It works to ensure that any woman who finds herself unexpectedly pregnant, or parenting in difficult circumstances, can turn to her local Catholic Church and be connected with the resources she needs. Volunteers walk with moms throughout the motherhood journey, offering them authentic Christian friendship and ongoing support.

PRISON MINISTRY

Within the Diocese of Wheeling-Charleston, the scope of Prison Ministry is shared between the Office of Prison Ministry and the Office of Social Ministry.

The Office of Prison Ministry deals with all contact, outreach and sacraments for those who are incarcerated. The mission is to share our faith and the redemptive grace of Christ with those who are imprisoned. All clergy, diocesan employees and volunteers who wish to serve those who are incarcerated within the State or Federal penal system will need to contact the Office of Prison Ministry at 304-472-1217 for placement, training and proper credentialing.

The Office of Social Ministry provides resources and opportunities for parishes to serve those affected by loved ones who are incarcerated and those who have served their time and are now “reentering” society. The Office of Social Ministry encourages and supports parishes who are called to serve these families by offering the grace, peace and redemption that only Christ can offer.

PROJECT RACHEL

Project Rachel is a diocese-based ministry offering specially trained priests, counselors and laypersons who provide an integrated approach to healing for those affected by abortion. Project Rachel provides confidential, compassionate referral services for licensed mental health professionals and pastoral counseling. Women can find forgiveness and peace of heart through compassionate help and the Sacrament of Reconciliation.
