Proceeds to Benefit West Virginia Catholic Radio

CHARLESTON, W.Va.—Eternal World Television Network’s (EWTN) personality Dr. Ray Guarendi will be visiting the Mountain State to present a talk on the challenges of raising children in today’s world. Guarendi will present “Raising Good Kids in the Modern World: Practical Advice for Parents, Teachers, Grandparents & Catechists” Nov. 6 at 7 p.m. at the Basilica of the Co-Cathedral of the Sacred Heart in Charleston, W.Va. All proceeds from the event will benefit West Virginia Catholic Radio, which operates four stations in the area. Guarendi is the host of the EWTN television program “Living Right with Dr. Ray” and the EWTN radio show “The Doctor Is In.” Guarendi is a clinical psychologist with expertise in school districts, substance abuse programs, mental health and juvenile courts. Mark Sadd, president of West Virginia Catholic Radio, said that the organization is happy to have Guarendi speaking to area residents on the topic of raising children today. “He has probably one of the most popular programs on ETWN and our stations,” Sadd said. “He is a very engaging, popular, funny, insightful speaker and, we believe, this event will be very appealing to families all across southern West Virginia.” Sadd noted that the presentation will be for both Catholic and non-Catholic families, and he hopes to have it annually. Dr. Ray’s presentation is being sponsored in part by the Diocese of Wheeling-Charleston; Charleston Catholic High School; St. Agnes School and Sacred Heart Grade School in Charleston; St. Francis of Assisi School in St. Albans, W.Va.; as well as a number of individual and business sponsors. West Virginia Catholic Radio operates the following radio stations in southern West Virginia: WLUX AM 1450 Dunbar/ Charleston, WNUX FM 89.7 Montgomery/Beckley, WMUX AM 1110 Hurricane/Huntington and its new station of WOUX FM 105.7 St. Marys/Parkersburg. The event will also include a silent auction and book sale available for signing. Rebecca Royse, coordinator of Marriage and family Life for the diocese, will be the master of ceremonies. There will be free child-care and pizza at the basilica for children 3 and older. Children may be dropped off as early as 6:30 p.m. Tickets for the event are $20.
