WEST VIRGINIA—Bishop Mark E. Brennan has asked all parishes and missions of the Diocese of Wheeling-Charleston to hold a special second collection to help those who have been devastated by Hurricane Dorian in the Bahamas. The second collection will be held at weekend Masses on either Oct. 5 and 6, or Oct. 12 and 13 for Catholic Relief Services.

The death toll in the Bahamas is currently around 50 but more than 1,000 people are still missing and at least 70,000 have been left homeless. Many residents have lost everything and are in desperate need of humanitarian assistance.
